About GSMB

Membership in the Society is open to all those
who are interested in these fields who will abide by the Society's stated
policies.  Annual membership dues are $15.00 per individual or $20.00 per
family.  Visitors are always welcome at all meetings.  The Society's
general membership meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month (except
July and August, with a special activity in December).  The Society's
Computer Users in Genealogy (CUG) group meetings are held on the second Tuesday
of each month of the year.  (Twelve Months)

The Society's governing body consists of five
officers elected by the general membership attending the May meeting.  The
Board conducts the general business of the Society and the Board meetings are
open to all members.  All special business is taken before the general
membership for their vote and approval.

The Society newsletter,
The Family Gathering , is published monthly except
July, August and December, and is received by members as part of their dues.
A subscription only to The Family Gathering is $8.00 per year beginning with the September issue.

The Society maintains a reference
library collection of more than 350 genealogical research books that are housed
in the Yucca Valley Branch of the San Bernardino County Library system, located
at 57098 29 Palms Highway, Yucca Valley, CA.

Monday & Friday: 10:00am to 6:00pm

Thursday:  12:00pm to 6:00pm

Saturday:  9:00am to 5:00pm

The collection contains more than
350 titles in books, periodicals and current news letters.  Members of the
Society and the public are able to do basic research in the local area using
handbooks, manuals, indices and guides on many subjects relating to family
history and genealogical research.  Interlibrary loans make it possible to
obtain and use materials from larger libraries and other institutions.

 

The Yucca Valley Family History Center
is located across the street from the Yucca Valley High school at
56885 Onaga Trail at the corner of Sage Avenue in Yucca Valley.  It is housed in
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  The Family History Center
is open to the public for research.  Use of on-site materials and computers
are free and the staff is available to assist in their use.

Tuesday:  9:00am to 1:00pm

Wednesday:  9:00am to 4:00pm

Thursday:  5:00pm to 8:00pm

Saturday:  10:00am to 3:00pm

All Family History Centers are
part of the world famous Family History Library system located in
Salt Lake City, Utah.
